UX | UI design
5 weeks UX | UI design for the world largest heavy truck manufacturer.
Our UX team worked closely with the Solution Manager of V company to find a better mobile application with user-centric design to help truckers in operating their business (SMEs) inbetween driving the truck.
Client
Client's brief
The world largest heavy track manufacturer
To design a solution which automatically maximises volume and weight per km to sufficiently fulfil the needs of transporters and transport buyers...
Discover & understand
After we went through the client's brief, personas and studied client's the existing app, our team felt that the brief was very technical without integrating the feeling of the users. Therefore we decided to de-brief and re-brief the assignment again to aim the application for user-centered design.
Re-brief
How might we help the Owner Drivers quickly understand the driving data of all employees and reveal the business (freight) profitability
by calculating the data of driving performance at all time, from all drivers in the company, including the data from the existing driving app which have been collected by the built-in tracking system in the truck?
Users
-
Primary user = Owner Truck drivers
who own the trucks & are the truck drivers themselves
-
Secondary user = Employee drivers
who drive those trucks

Presentation & result
The prototype was presented to the Solution Manager of V Group on November 19th, 2018 which would be used to exemplify to the V Solution Team by the manager. In addition we discussed on how V can sell this service with their trucks.
We suggested some new sale channels which incorporates the existing users' networks with the reward point collection and benefits from the external collaborators (further from V Dealers) such as highway food business, hotels and so on.
We also mentioned in their marketing strategy in how important that V as a brand is existing consistently along the highway (where the users spend their work life the most) and in some other places according to our user journey.
In addition, with the extract from the insight of user journey mapping, we also came up with the spin-off concept of V GROW
My learning
I learnt that team is everything. This assignment was very technical and difficult to understand. But with the spirit of our UX teamwork and trust that we had from each other, we all took the initiative roles in the different parts of this project and created many workshops for ideation.
The team trusted me to take the lead role as the Information Architect. We shaped the Wireframe and art direction at the end of project together.
I also learnt that the user research is an important key to understand the user experience. Without finding the real users to interview, we would not have enough insights for this project.
